Rick Hansen

I’m a doctor’s son, oldest of four siblings, native of Orange County, and a graduate of Stanford University.  My role models were my many fine teachers, and a career in education chose me.  I worked for half my career in the Central Valley, then moved to Marin and was given the assignment of working to serve a unique place called the Novato Charter School in 1987, working alongside a young upstart school director.  My role, then and now, is to help students with learning difficulties both minor and major.

Twelve years later, I enjoy more than ever my association with this unique school, its faculty, staff and parent community.  I appreciate the opportunities and challenges not only of the unique delivery of instruction, but also of the specialty classes that offer students a chance to develop talents they would never discover in a traditional school.  I appreciate having the chance to redirect students into more efficient ways of learning, and of helping them experience success that becomes a habit they’ll want to repeat again and again.
